Luxurious Living in Asia & Thailand

Bangkok Top Luxury Hotels

To assist you in your luxury accommodation selection, we have just put together our latest selection of some of the top luxurious hotels in Bangkok. After some 20-plus years visiting here, and also after actually having lived in luxury style in some of these splendid places from time-to-time, we can attest these to be some of the best digs in town!

Chao Phraya River Area

Along the Riverside there are five top luxurious hotels that we believe needs mentioning, of which the 130-year old and now called, Mandarin Oriental Hotel is probably one of Bangkok’s preeminent luxury hotel’s. We had the gratification of staying there in the Joseph Conrad suite for six months whilst enjoying world class jazz at the legendary Bamboo Bar, it is without hesitation and we can attest to it, one of the best lodgings in town.

The Peninsula Bangkok is a close second and it also has spectacular views of the renowned Bangkok river, in fact you can take the hotel river boat across to visit the Shangri-La Hotel for the grand high-teas and which is not a bad place to stay either, their apartments are especially great for long-stayers in this fabulous city. The nearby Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel is one of the few places that we actually have not stayed in, and we soon will try, but meanwhile we very love their riverside restaurant for its lovely river views during the Loy Kratong festival and it also has great food, and fine cigars and wine!

Lastly and just making the cut is the Hilton Bangkok which is situated at the waterfront of the Chao Phraya River, it is a short boat ride to Bangkok’s historic district, and it where guests can enjoy area attractions, including the Grand Palace, the Temple of the Dawn, the Reclining Buddha, Chinatown, and the Royal Barge Boathouse.

Bangkok Business District

The business district is really an area bordering Sathorn, Silom, Ratchadamri, Chidlom, Rama IV and Sukhumvit roads and it is here where the majority of Bangkok’s 5-star hotels and serviced apartments are located.

Our number one favourite there, without fail, is the luxurious Sukhothai Hotel, which is just a magnificent little heaven cosily nestled amongst Sathorn Road’s skyscrapers and maddening traffic. We absolutely adore their suites and Sunday brunches here, as well as all the unique and hard to find oriental artefacts one can find here throughout the hotel.

And what would Bangkok be without its first 5-star hotel, the serene Dusit Thani Hotel, which is one of the first hotels that claim its fame creating traditional Thai concepts design in its accommodation and food experiences.

Another one of our favourite is the Four Seasons Hotel which is conveniently located across Bangkok’s only horse racing club and is nearby some of Bangkok’s premium shopping malls. In fact after short stroll further down the road we can find the Grand Hyatt Erawan, with its fine dining at Tables and their energetic Spasso’s club to unwind with afterwards with your loved ones!

Around the corner from the Grand Hyatt we can find the recently beautiful renovated InterContinental Bangkok which can now proudly show off some of Bangkok’s finest hotel suites. Try out their superb cigar lounge, must be seen to be believed, plus that, it is right in the heart of Bangkok’s deluxe shopping district!

A little walk further towards embassy row on Wireless Road are another two fine hotels that we have checked out, namely the contemporary Conrad Hotel and the Plaza Athenee which has a wonderful resort style pool with superb views right in the heart of Bangkok!

We sometimes like to wrap up our stay in Bangkok in the Sukhumvit area, after all this where most of the great, and not so great, nightlife action can be found, so what a better place to stay that the Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit with its fabulous BarSu nightclub! The JW Marriott and Siam Kempinski are just another couple of places that is worth checking out!

So please fire off your comments, what do you think? Do you agree? Which hotel do you think is the best???
